Aim of the example

Influence of the potential URefl in the ion reflector on the peak profile.

Scheme of the ion reflector as used in the COSIMA instrument (simplified).

Input

For details see Method.

Secondary ions: mass 100, initial kinetic energy parameter E0 = 10 eV

Number of secondary ions: 10000

Channel width for collecting and counting secondary ions: 1 ns

Result

Urefl = 90V

Urefl = 94V

Urefl = 100V

m/Dm = 2 780

m/Dm = 5 480

m/Dm = 1 820

Dm, peak width at half height

A potential of 94 V is best for the compensation of different initial kinetic energies of the secondary ions.
