COSIMA stands for

COmetary Secondary Ion Mass Analyzer

a Time-Of-Flight Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometer (TOF-SIMS), [Kissel et al. 2007].

Wikipedia: [ SIMS ]  [ TOF ]

COSIMA is dedicated to collect dust particles in the neighborhood of a comet, to make images of them and to analyzes them by TOF-SIMS for getting information about the elemental, chemical and isotopic composition of the surface of the particles.
