Total Solar Eclipse 29
March 2006 Tent Camp 2 (Maps)
N 24° 28.021', E 17° 57.949',
440 m
The "official" large, noisy and dusty camp about 65 km
south from Waw an Namus crater almost directly at the central line of the
eclipse.

From Camp 1 to
camp 2 (11 hours). Red crosses mark positions during the trip; at K4 we had lunch,
K7 and K8 are near the Waw an Namus crater; near K9 the drivers lost the way to
the camp. The green circle (OBS) marks the observation point for viewing the eclipse
on the next day.

Distance
between camp 2 and observation point is 7.4 km; distance to the crater is about
50 km (tilted view).
